If the claims are true them New Hampshire is already despoiled. The St. John's to Sandy Pond DC line was built in 1989. It also has a substation at Comerford Dam NH. NIMBY
Why above ground rather than underground? Its the difference between $750,000+/- per mile overhead and $14 mill/mile underground.

Why are we still building above ground power lines which are subject to damage by weather (and are "unsightly")

No more despoiling than all the litter found along every road and stream.

They seem to prefer Nuclear -
Some argue that New Hampshire generates much more power than it uses, mainly through its nuclear plant, and doesn’t need any more.

I spent the first 38 years of my life in the Granite State. It is a beautiful area, tough but lovely weather, expensive as it comes to owning a house and survive well unless your family has $$$. But, they did not like change, to this day cell reception is sketchy at best (they don't like towers in view) and some of the "small town" rules are wildly restrictive. It doesn't surprise me one bit they are against new power lines.

NIMBY run rampant.
You need to get energy from where it is to where it is needed.

If they don't want the power lines, let them use wood, steam, and kerosene lanterns...take their electricity away!
You can't have it both ways...

This is so ridiculous, sharing power won't hurt anything, they can put the lines underground.

Obama wants us to rely on "greener" sources of energy. How can we do that when bringing those sources of power on line means somebody is fanatically opposed to it?

The NIMBY's are anti progress. They don't want the power line but will use electric, very hypocritical.
