Natural Gas Soars as Investors Focus on Lower Supplies

Dow Jones Newswires -- Natural gas futures jumped 4.4% Thursday after the first weekly increase in U.S. natural-gas stockpiles this year failed to meet analysts' forecasted rise.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration said domestic inventories of natural gas rose 31 billion cubic feet in the week ended April 12, the first increase in storage levels since December.

Analysts and traders widely expected a rise in stockpiles after lingering winter weather last month pushed back the first increase of the year from March, when gas in storage typically starts to go up.

However, the size of the increase was smaller than the 33-bcf injection that a Dow Jones Newswires survey of analysts and traders had predicted.

What happened. A few months ago we couldn't find enough places to store all the excess natural gas.

Investment data, maybe worthwhile for the trader and maybe some relation to energy costs but of not much value for the individual buying energy. More CNG vehicles would result in higher prices for NG.

Was bound to happen since suppliers cut back because no money to be made. They are making it now and supply will likely ramp up to cash in.

Reaching a balance. Unfortunately exports cause competition and raise domestic prices. That is one thing I don't like.

The supply is much greater than the demand, yet they still find a way to screw the public.

The analysts still can't predict the future (or the weather). That' a risk you take when speculating in the markets.

A good source as a heating and industrial energy source but a poor fuel source for vehicles! If they push it more for vehicles than it will really climb higher!

The percentage of growth is a factor of the initial quantity. If the initial quantity is larger... it takes more new growth to get the same percentage of growth the next time and when you forget that simple mathmatic truth... you do not hit your dream targets.
