If you drive a car, I'll tax the street, If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat. If you get too cold I'll tax the heat, If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet

If they knew how to manage money better they wouldn't need it. In Ohio they use calcium chloride on the roads that just eats your car and anything else it comes in contact with. Years ago it was considered pollution, now they just dump it all over the road even when it is sunny out.

The governor should have definitely known better. And with today's prices on fuel, you would think that he would have selected another time to spring this on the Legislature. This wasn't the way to win friends and influence people.

Nobody is thrilled about increasing taxes. Least of all when the commodity is going up, up and away without a tax increase!

We are paying over $5.00 a gallon now and the problem is that the fuel taxes that are collected for road maintenance are getting robbed for other Government spending.

If they stop wasting taxpayer dollars on commuter rail projects, even if some of it were spent on buses to replace the trains, there would be more available to repair the roads and bridges.

The gas tax is only one thing they want from us. They also want to increase our registration fees for our cars by 80%. All this Governor is going to do is shove this money into the rainy day fund and you will not see any more work on our roads then in years past. What i need to do is move out of Michigan before they tax me to death for real.

Definitely need to raise the tax. Have you seen the new simplified IRS form? There are only three lines on the form: Line A - How much money did you make? ___________ Line B - How much of it do you have left? ___________ Remit amount on line B.

I still like Virginia's idea of dropping the whole gas tax and replacing it with an increase in sales tax.
Everyone benefits from well maintained roads. Some more then others.

Great!!!... I work part time for $9.50/hr and have to drive 60 miles one way to work. So I get 21 mpg in my 2003 Pontiac Montana. I'm an electrical engineer and I can't get a job... give me a break I can work for $12.50/hr. That beats any college grad with no experience at $20.00/hr. Ok, ok... I can keep pipe dreaming!!! hee hee!
