we know it's bad for small engines, like lawn mowers. And it's bad for my food and feed bill.

Our sustainable agriculture (or continuing lack thereof) will be the ultimate force that all the world will need to reckon with well before a violence, weather, or cosmo related annihilation would happen ( in my opinion)

it never was about environment (that was the pretext). Always been about the money (subsidies).

Pgerassi has drunk the Koolaid laced with copious amounts of ethanol — a member of the one percent who love ethanol in their gas tanks as well as their drinking glasses. Go on your way with your wishful thinking, P, oblivious to the world.

no changes in fuel price, lowered mileage negating any pollution reduction, using food for fuel and more damage to vehicles. Don't want.

Alcohol in gas used to be called "drygas". It absorbed water in the tank and removed it from the system.

Ethanol is not good in the long run for the engines, so its time to get rid of the subsidies to that industry.

Ethanol could be made from sugar cane which would be good for Hawaiian fuel prices - that is if they want to buy ethanol.
I haven't met anyone who wants to put ethanol in their car yet.

Ethanol in gas was design for use on specific newer engines not the old. Engineers has calculated that by now those old engine are phase out. Time to move on.

Another article full of myths and FUD. Typical anti-ethanol blurb without proof. Fact is gasoline sits in tanks and gums up the works. Funny how my fuel pump in my Ford has run for 10 years without any problem even when some of the time its pumping E85. Maybe it runs only 1 year when running on shit gasoline without any ethanol in it. Also in the old days fuel pumps were not in the tank, but in the engine and pumped fuel at low pressures (1-3PSI) after it passed through the fuel filter on its way to the carburetor, plus cars only lasted 4-6 years back then in the northern sea salt climes. Its far harder to build the pump to pump fuel at much higher pressures (180-3,600PSI) needed for fuel injection directly in the tank prior to the fuel filter in cars that now last 16-20 years before rusting out.
As for older model cars, the only parts available are ones produced from original specs at ordinary machine shops, but they do not always use the best grade of materials, processes, nor workmanship. Funny also is that Model Ts could run on pure ethanol without rust or problems and that is one of the oldest models around in large numbers. Plus many pre 1975 cars needed tetra-ethyl lead in the fuel to coat valves which doesn't exist in any current non aviation fuel. So these claims are misdirection as even pure unleaded gasoline would cause problems. There are cars on the market that can't run on research grade gasoline (Honda has some) reliably.
As for mechanics, they don't know things and many of them lie to gain business (rip off shops). Engineers design these cars and test them in much harsher conditions than normal usage does. They know that ethanol use is easily designed in, has passed numerous testing, and they have lots of experience in the automotive realm.
