Face it--there's no overwhelming demand for electric vehicles.

Until EV's compressed air or what ever can get 500 miles to the tank full, they will never be accepted. Hybrids that can still have the expensive battery issue as well as the extra $10,000 up front. Who wants that?

And if we could get rid of ethanol, my Mazda3 SkyActive-G would get 44mpg instead of a measley 40mpg!

There are plenty of people out there who will never change if they can help it. The automakers realize how uninformed people are and they will take advantage of that.

near and present danger... no surprise here. Been banking on it hard for the past 20! Hard to change that which is resisted with power, money and corruption. A change of attitude would help on a lot of people and businesses hearts and minds. I still believe if they researched biomass to biofuels starting as far back as when the Industrial Hemp Tax Stamp Act when through 75+ years ago, we might not be in this situation. Yes that particular fuel is troublesome in cold climates, but not in the south. The fiber in general is a renewable and recyclable source to replace most plastics. 75+ years behind in that research... Thanks Uncle Sam! I guess Government really does know best... NOT Oh and that 2025 deadline... If you have a car from 1995 UPKEEP it or convert the engine. Make the repairs yourself and get a kid in technical school...

I'd love to be able to "gas" up my car at my house. I'd almost never have to gas up on the road again.

until they can deliver a mid-sized green product at a reasonable price, internal combustion engines will prevail

Aviator Rob said: ""Heavier" doesn't make a car safer, either, @Lizzylou. Vehicle design is a much better indicator of safety than mere weight alone." While that's true to some extent I would still rather be in my old Suburban than in the elegantly designed Mini Cooper when those two vehicles try to occupy the same space at the same time. Sometimes there's really no good substitute for an extra half ton or so...
