I cross three sets of tracks every day on my way to work none of them has more than just a sign, even on a main highway. Two of them are on curves and the third is just off a freeway exit on a blind curve.

I rarely cross a RR. After a visit back to my hometown and all its bumpy, messy RR crossings, I don't miss 'em, either!

The ones I cross have signs, warning that the engines may be unmanned and remotely operated.

I rarely cross a RR these days. They actually took up the rail lines in my area about 20 years ago.

I voted crossing gates/arms, but I believe all three (actually 4 if you include the bell) exists for the RR tracks in my town.

Gates and arms here. Only thing safer would be an overpass or underpass.

Crossing gates, lights, alarms and signs! Even though I rarely go through them I think it's state law to have all those things.

Interesting... I didn't realize until today that I almost never cross railroads anymore (except via bridge or tunnel.)
