Georgia DUI driver kills woman; leaves trail of wreckage behind

GasBuddy Blog -- It was a string of car crashes and carnage so disturbing last week that it's being reported as far away as Anchorage even though it happened in Georgia.

Police in the Atlanta area say Michael Owen Snider, a 70-year old man from Stone Mountain, caused 15 crashes spanning two counties that left one person dead and another critically injured. Police say Snyder caused five wrecks in DeKalb County and 10 more in Gwinnett County.

Snider allegedly drove drunk in his Ford F-250 for 15 miles, haphazardly striking more than a dozen cars along the way. Panicked drivers called 911 as Snider continued on, not stopping until he caused a fatal wreck and rammed his own truck into a Gwinnett County restaurant Wednesday night, police...

Connect all the detectors with the database and alert the police when one of the detectors is being tempered with. The detector's role will be to disable the vehicle when alcohol fumes are detected. Big fine for tempering!!!

Maybe it is time to test drivers over 65 yearly. Maybe it is time to evaluate drunks at the wheel more often and get them off the road. Sure there is an idiot at fault but the system too is at fault!

Otherwise they'll spend a ton of money on him in jail and medical costs. It's not that he doesn't deserve to be in jail, I just object to spending good money on him.
