Well said evowner. Another thing he does not understand is most families have at least 2 cars already. When the time comes to replace one get an electric and you still have a gas powered one for road trips. by evowner Jun 04, 2013 First a Leaf is hardly a toy compared to a SUV. Second the EV and solar programs are investment programs comparative to programs available to all businesses. And third, the government is broke because of lack of revenue. this revenue decrease came from tax policies that decreased taxes for the rich and corporations. There increased wealth was not invested in the US.

All I can say is you have a lot of money to buy tax-subsidized playtoys for the rich. Two vehicles, one of them an EV, and solar panels on top of that? Washington is broke and you're buying tax-subsidized gadgets with my tax money!

>Quit the fossil fuels and get an EV.< Why? So we can convert our dependency on Big Oil to a dependency on Big Electric and its coal-fired and natural gas-fired plants? Anyway, an EV is a playtoy for the rich who can afford either a second vehicle or to rent a vehicle when they need to go somewhere in something other than a glorified golf cart that is intimately married to a power cord.

>Solar is the first large energy source that the big oil corporations have nto bought control of.< Have you ever heard of BP Solar? It was at one time the largest solar energy company out there. BP shut it down concluding solar energy was just sending money down a rathole. Unfortunately for us average taxpayers, OBUMMER hasn't figured that out.

hello from Maryland

You asked: "The federal government pumped oil from these site? Really? Sounds like more corporate irresponsibility, because they can."- Yep, that's the fact evowner. Across the North Slope, there are over a hundred oil wells drilled by the federal government that are no longer operational. At some sites, there are abandoned drums sunk in oil seeps; other wells have gas leaking from them. The Bureau of Land Management has finally released a draft plan identifying 50 of these so-called “legacy wells” for clean up. But they've been dragging their feet for ages on their responsibility while trying to get some one else to cover the federal responsibility.

Just a quick message to everyone, if this works. Holiday weekend is upon us, wholesale price of gas is up last that I saw, and a few stations rising in price; which would mean it's a good time to buy gas for most of you!
