Crude oil, gold drop after sentiment data

The Wall Street Journal -- NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Crude oil and gold futures turned lower in morning trade Friday after a survey showed U.S. consumers were less optimistic in March. Crude oil for April delivery was down 2 cents at $82.09 a barrel in electronic trade. It earlier rose to a high of $83.20 a barrel, lifted by the International Energy Agency's forecast for higher global oil demand. Gold for April was down 1.10, or 0.1%, at $1,107.10 an ounce, off a morning high of $1,119.50 an ounce.

One is good for me and the other is bad. I own gold, but I do buy gas. I also have investments in oil companies so maybe I am covered.

Where were these US consumers surveyed? The Wall St. Journal usually fills in this blanks.

if O'Bummer would allow domestic drilling, oil would drop to 32 a barrel, like it did when Bush allowed domestic drilling in July 2008 after it hit 147 a barrel in that month.

The direction of the "global economy" is influenced by a "survey". Who was surveyed by whom?. And this is the "advanced" state of society today. Formerly, this was called gossip.

"when civilization makes a major turn down". That is exactly where we are headed now without some major common sense in Washington. We are broke and must remedy that or else.

Pump prices around here are up 25-30 cents/gal in the last month. Too much. Gotta keep the crude price below $80/bbl.

We need to get back on the gold standard and reverse course with this spending.
